I understood Infra royalties are capped at a $ threashold per unit and not the entire sell price of bastations etc. Is this correct?

500 million 3G CDMA phones sold in Europe at US$100 wholesale and 5% royalty = $2 billion for QUALCOMM.

Spectrum cost for 3G in Europe was over $100 billion.

Handset costs of $50 billion.

If there is a problem with the cost of 3G, the bidders for the spectrum should look at their own decisions, not the inventor of the technology which enables 3G and their derisory share of the money spent.

Nokia should go and whine somewhere else. Vodafone too! And Ericsson. And the rest of the GSM Hagfish Guild. The whining is disturbing the QUALCOMM engineers who are making CDMA work.

Fortunately, the Koreans have stopped whining like a fleet of 747s as they giggle over their CDMA and 1xRTT profits. But now we have very loud whining coming from Europeans.
