Well, Cisco agrees with you evidently, because they went ahead and purchased the assets outright. However, we weren't talking about the accounting issue and the purpose of the books, rather, we were talking about what a synthetic lease means. Anyway, synthetic leases make good business sense in some cases too, especially if you are trying to hoard cash in a downturn. Cisco realized that they didn't need to be overly concerned with cash, as Larry Carter put it, it wasn't worth the trouble, so they bought it out. So they are listening to you. Can't say as much for other companies.
