The train will make some stops and detours, but you're essentially right.

My best trades have been the ones I left alone. Buy and (gulp!) hold. Got PAA @ 5.00 and BAY @ 1.70 about 6 months ago. Those 2 holds outperformed all my "trading" strategies.

One exception, T.G . Buy the dips, sell the spikes is working extremely well. No promises for the future, though!

Hi Eva,
I know I know but..... (I ended up unloading all of BGO at the close so it will rocket from here :o)

1- I had no cash and want some bigger fish in the stable as I don't really think they are near done if this is really a gold bull (and I'm inclined to agree).

2- I manage 7 accounts in all. I am continually analyzing why some perform much better than others especially since I tend to hold fully 75% of the same stocks in each.. I and am trying to normalize the procedures so that I make the most dough :o) I still have a lot of problems knowing when to hold and when to take profits. A good example is MFL. I could have held on for a quick double (weeks we're talking here) instead of a measly 50%+ (now I'm teasing russet :0). I have found however that it better to err on the side of locking in profits rather than giving them back or worse losing money. Somehow 'missing' some 'future possible profits' is easier on my psyche. BGO was ostensibly a double for me (give a couple of hundred bucks maybe) and I had a lot :o) :o) :o) :o)

3- not too long ago I was often buying strength and selling weakness... not good on the pocket book. I know selling BGO today was not selling strength but a 99%+ profit is a 99%+ profit ;o)

regards
Boxcar Willie , Looking for another train to hop ......

EDIT I've still lots to learn too !!!
