BD/DM, it can NOT be discounted, it would be , i feel, false bravado to insist there is No chance of a depression ahead.
This is where i feel detached objectivism must hold the day.
And when i hear people howling that "good times" are just around the bend , i believe i am hearing the subjectivist cry-out, and it is based on a desire to believe it must be true because to believe otherwise is unacceptable, as it would be unpleasant for them to consider.
As an objectivist, i must view the possibility of depression as to be in the area where it's possibility is higher than at anytime since 1930. Max

Real problems that is for sure. But in an era of fiat money politicians and bankers can always head off depression via the printing press if they are determined to do so. That is one reason I am so bearish on the dollar. But whetever the precise mechanism, there is little doubt that US living standards will decline as the nation is forced to rein in its huge trade deficits.
