As I said on the other thread, people in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks. Time someone pointed out how high the rates are on GSM handsets. If Nokia et al had been forced to live with a 5% cap, their margins would look much leaner than they have.

It's my understanding that the biggies (Nokia, MOT, ERICY, and I think Alcatel) were crosslicensed to each other at 5%, but that the full 29%--which I thought was more like 15%--was payable by those who were not part of the pool. A really neat way to curtail competition.

Wonder if any sharp lawyers have taken a look at the anti-trust aspects of the arrangement?
