Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd said 12-inch
wafers are expected to account for more than 50 pct of its output in 2006.

The company's Fab 12, which started volume production early this year,
should expand monthly capacity to 13,000 pieces at the end of the year, TSMC
senior vice president LF Chin said in a Commercial Times report.

At the same time, equipment installation is expected to get underway at Fab
14 at the Tainan Science-based Industrial Park by the end of the year, he said.

Chin added further expansion of both fabs is already planned.
