Henry Wallace, Vice President of the United States 1940-1944, Presidential Candidate-Progressive Party 1948.

cnn.com

"When asked about Soviet Russia, he (Henry Wallace in 1948) made gently critical or defensive statements. The strongest thing he would say was: "I detest dictatorship," quickly adding that the idea that Hitler's dictatorship and Stalin's dictatorship are alike is "criminal . . . a myth."

fsmitha.com

"...He (Wallace) rejected a warning from former Secretary of War, Henry Stimson that the Soviet Union had been pursing "an obstructive and unfriendly" course. As Wallace saw it, the Cold War was Truman's fault. ..."

winrock.org

"Wallace remained the leader of the Progressive Party until 1950. A number of factors contributed to his break with the party,...But the final break came when the North Koreans invaded the South. Wallace alone of the Progressive Party leadership condemned the attack and supported the United States' military response. In August of 1950, Wallace resigned from the Progressive Party"

Dave, I really respect your opinion but what does it matter who defended Stalin or Mao? They were hard right wing, that is just the way it is. As far as Pol Pot that is a curveball into the discussion
