the myth of multi-culturalism
You build a straw man definition to despise. Many right wing ideas of melting pot means that all adopt a particular common culture. Right wing does not have to mean WASP, there are plenty of right wing extremists of all races and cultures.

Multi-culturalism sets up an environment in which new, never before seen cultures can spring up. This are in addition to existing ones and not in place of them. The "harmony" comes from not haveing easy stereotype clues and so people's nature must be determined on a more individual basis.

It's no myth, people can be brow beat into external conformity and some of that occurred as a result of 9/11. There is still no better place to see multiculturalism succeed than on the streets of Manhattan.
