miles, i do not believe you owe any explanation to anybody. you believe in your work and that ought to be enough. (imo) if "they" don't like it... well, let "them" howl and moan all they want... besides, readers will interpret your work based on the color of their glasses, (and at times, clouded by that color), not necessarily on the color of you ink.
