Oh, boy. That is kind of a "Third Rail" around here. John, FL, et al, and I tiptoe around it. One thing I'd like to discuss is whether there is any rational basis for their complaints. I assume you mean for the "Terrorist's" complaints. I believe their complaints arise from the feeling of inferiority that they have due to their position in World Civilization. They are on the bottom. "Their faults are not in their stars, but in themselves, that they are underlings." I believe man to be rational, I believe man is capable of being rational. Plato, with Kant and Hegel reinforcing him, says that Faith is above rationality. Aristotle says that logic, ie: rationality, is the only answer, and to find your solutions in it, not in Faith. This epistemological battle that has been going on since the rise of Greek Philosophy. I wonder what is the rational basis for their beliefs. Their rage is emotional, helped along by Faith, not rationality; and Marxism gives them what appears to be a rational answer. Blame Capitalistic, Western, Civilization. we'd understand how to deal with them. Deal with them the same way we had dealt with the Communists and Fascists movements of the last Century. 1) Contain them 2) Cut off the heads of the structure if they threaten us. 3) Get information to the masses to change the structure. This means we continue to make war on the organizations, like the terrorists, that directly threaten us, while containing the ones who support them, like Saudi Arabia, et al, and let the information revolution from the west continue to work for us. It is going to take a while.
