I have just read an amazing story of the OSS success in dropping agents into Germany in the last year of WWII. Reads like a terrific "Thriller", and will make a great movie someday. It is published in the "CIA Studies" magazine this month. The communist twist on the ending is great.

it's a different matter to be a flame thrower against a totalitarian regime (termed used loosely) (how does one understand "terrorist" activities against the Nazi regime in Germany, for instance) and a liberal democracy.

funny you should bring that up. I gather there's going to be an essay dealing with precisely that subject in the next issue of FA...
