HPAQ HQ: Sydney or Melbourne? May 10, 2002 (ZDNet.com.au - ABIX via COMTEX) -- It has not been decided yet where the headquarters of the new entity, Hewlett-Packard/Compaq, will be located. Compaq's headquarters are currently located in Melbourne but the merged computer company might be tempted to move them to Sydney. The company is negotiating with the Victorian and New South Wales state governments and its decision will depend on tax incentives which the company is seeking. A Hewlett-Packard spokeswoman said that all senior managers of the new entity - Paul Brandling, Rebekah O'Flaherty, Tony Bill and Pathy Pathamanaban - will remain in Sydney even if the company decides to establish the legal headquarters in Melbourne.
