Wait a second. In posting #330 the news item reads:

"Telstra Corporation has decided against distributing Compaq iPaq personal digital assistants (PDA) among its workforce. Telstra workers will receive 5,000 Hewlett-Packard Joranda 568s instead. John Gowland, HP's Joranda product manager, said that Telstra opted for Joranda because of the iPaq's non-removable/replaceable battery and the inability of the PDA to write to ROM."

The article I'm replying to reiterates a news release earlier this week about HP's plans to phase out the Joranda in favor of the iPaq:

"., H-P said Tuesday that it plans to phase out the Jornada line this year and replace it with Compaq's iPaq device, using some of Jornada's technology.

Now H-P has to decide whether to sell the Jornada 920 at all..."

I think I'm missing something. Why would Telstra want to buy something on it's way out?

Also, by, "Using some of Jornada's technology," in the new iPaq, do people think the battery and ability to write to ROM might be what HP has in mind?
