Boston has much better everyday players than the Yankees (see my comment re: Johnny Damon in the first note above); we will outscore the Yanks by at least 75 runs this year. So the question is the pitching; can Lowe/Oliver/Burkett keep up this mirage and out-pitch Clemens/Duque/Wells, and can Oogie hold up over the season.

This is a key stretch right here. We just swept the A's (not as good as advertised) and now we have 3 w/ Seattle. Then we get both those teams back at Fenway next week. If we can take 7 of those 12 games we're for real (we're losing bad to Seattle right now), and will likely at worst get the wild card (remember, the BoSox get to play Baltimore, Tampa, and Toronto 18 games each; that's a huge advantage in ease of schedule versus likely wild-card contenders Minnesota, Chicago and Oakland). The way Lowe is pitching right now, I'd take Pedro, Lowe and Oogie plus our offense in a short series over anybody.
