That depends on the distance between you and God.

Could I have reasoned with my six-month-old child going in for his shots? Shown him the error of his ways, that I was really kind and benevolent?

Only as he grew up. Even when he was five, or six, or seven, I was still making decisions which I would tell him were for his own good, but he didn't believe.

Now he does. And soon, he will encounter the same thing with his own children.

The point where we differ, perhaps, is wether we have matured to the point where we can understand if God tries to explain.

You obviously believe yes. I simply, frankly, don't know.
