Online petition for a coherent policy against terrorism:

wiesenthal.com

As the suicide bombings and attacks by Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Al-Aqsa Brigades and other terrorist groups continue in Israel, most recently the horrendous attack which killed 16 people and wounded more than 50, the Simon Wiesenthal Center is asking its supporters around the world to join together to urge the Bush Administration to make the closing of these terrorist groups offices and political institutions a priority in reforming the Palestinian Authority and one of the first steps towards a lasting peace in the Middle East.

These groups, who want nothing less than the destruction of the State of Israel, operate offices and political institutions freely throughout the territory under the rule of the Palestinian Authority. They are allowed to operate with impunity, if not with the complete endorsement of Yassir Arafat and the Palestinian Authority. Recently, Arafat made a public declaration, for the first time, that he opposed suicide bombings. Yet, he knows and meets with the leaders of these terrorist organizations regularly. Why then have they not been arrested and their offices and institutions closed?

A closure of these offices and institutions must be a pre-condition to any peace negotiation as no peace process can work without changing the modus operandi of supporting and harboring terrorist groups. Arafat and leaders of the Arab world must also sever all relationships with these groups otherwise any future regional conferences and meetings towards peace would be futile.
