Your article misses the point. The No. 1 ingredient to be a successful judge is an open mind. Scalia and Thomas are right-wing extremists with closed minds. The Democrats have been burned twice, and now they're saying, "Enough!" Thank goodness we have men like Patrick Leahy in the Senate.

One would think that to have a debate(racy or otherwise) on the privileges and immunities clause there would have to be some on one side and some on the other. Do the Democrats support neither side or are they simply offended that the idea is debated? I thought the Senate considered themselves the great debating society, maybe this is what they really take offense at, someone else debating issues of importance. Their criticisms are too transparent and feeble.
