re: CSCo is yesteryear

I've considered that question carefully, and come to the conclusion that CSCO is still a growth company. IMO, they will grow share in telecom-equip, and, even if that industry doesn't grow very fast, CSCO can reasonably do 20-25%/Y GAAP EPS growth.

I am, and have, invested in many other sectors. Over the last 2 years, I've been in manufactured housing, cruise ships, biotech, generic drugs, and others. Would have bought gold, but I put in my limit order for NEM at 14, a month too late.

Then, somebody please explain to me why anyone would waste time analyzing CSCO's prosects[sic]...,

I dunno, vic... how about enlightening us. Why do you participate in such a senseless activity? <ggg>

Just in case you were not merely being caustic, I also offer a serious answer. Personally, there aren't any threads devoted to the majority of my investments. And some of them (sadly) will never see the light of day, the law of averages being what it is. So it's rather uninformed to assume that posting about Cisco on the Cisco thread implies a de-facto ignorance of better value elsewhere.

Diversity being what it is, I also hold some of the venerable pillars of the industrial firmament. There's accumulating capital, and there's parking it productively. As posted frequently, I suspect that Cisco is likely to be one of these productive parking places, some time in the future. And so it has a line reserved in the ledger book. Although the entry in the column "shares held" is still zero. I am merely biding my time waiting for what I think to be a good entry point.

And meanwhile, I hang around here and remark about what I observe. Wasting my time? Perhaps. But all things come to he who hustles while he waits.

John
