The suicide rate in the 1929 crash, it seems, was much overstated.

But I admit to sounding like that group of religious nuts in the satirical recording I hear many years ago--who talked (in British accents) about going up onto the "moun-TANE" to await the fire and brimstone and floods and general destruction of the world. "And what will we do, brothers," asked one, "while this world is being destroyed?"
