Actually, I did see the "Beavis and Butthead" movie when it came out. It had its moments. I miss the two misguided teens on MTV. Don't you?

In addition to seeing an art movie ("Chocolat" would be a good first choice), try reading some serious literature, including poetry. A book discussion group also would move you in directions that would benefit your soul.

You need to branch out more and quit hanging around SI so much. Too many piss-and-vinegar types here.

Peace, prosperity and mental growth,

Flapjack

When one gets outside the pseudo-elite areas of the obsolete cities in the Northeastern US, the pro-life sentiment runs about 60%. Karl Rove estimated that as many as 2 million Christian Coalition sympathizers sat out the 2000 election-in which most judicial and social issues like abortion were minimized to a great extent by both sides (As you will recall, The Dems ran as anti-white racists, while Bush ran on integrity and taxes.) Those Christians were treated, of course, to a widely televised abortive election theft attempt by the American left led by Al Gore and his fanatical followers.

Bush and his team know the score in the Senate Judiciary Committee: The Republicans are led by a senile Oran Hatch, most likely in his last term, who has been PERSONALLY fooled for years by the most aggressive Democrats on the left. There will be few if any Bush judicial nominations moved to hearings, much less sent to the main Senate before January (though there may be a lot of key recess appointments). The Bush team, nonetheless, emphasizes this obstruction of the 3rd branch by Leahy and his Nazis. Not because he thinks the pressure will work, but because that, plus the Gore obscenities of November 2000, will bring a large number of those Christians back out in 2002. The major Senate races are all in their territory. And in an off-year election 200,000 votes can mean the difference between a wash and a 1994-like Tsunami.

The Democrats know all this as well, but their fanatical base is unbending on judicial appointments, so they are virtually paralyzed. This is ALREADY a lot of fun to watch, and it is getting nothing but better...
