These Ice shelves have been doing this for millions of years after each ice age. The Ice builds up above sea level, some melts and the melting process creates cracks and bits fall off. No big deal.

Remember, ice displaces its own weight of water so melting ice shelfs have no effect on overall sea levels. It is the ice on land that you need to worry about.
