In my weekend comments, I should have noted this was Options Expiry week. By some miracle, the markets have been rallying each month, into the third Friday of the month.

This week, using my signals, I had:

Weekend - Signal - Today's
....5........- Sell -.......1...
....3........- Buy -........8...
....2........- Hold -.......1...

In April, on the 18th, I had

Weekend - Signal - The 18th
....5........- Sell -.......2...
....4........- Buy -........5...
....1........- Hold -.......3...

So, what does that mean?

It means that, for some odd reason, the markets seem to rally into Options Expiry. And I'm just guessing, but I wouldn't be too surprised to find that in bull markets, the opposite happens. In either case, I figure someone benefits from having sold options that expired worthless.

I don't suppose any of the brokerages that have been issuing upgrades this week would have anything to gain.

Today, Decliners on both the NYSE and Nasdaq outnumbered Advancers, and yet, the big caps rallied, despite the poor economic numbers.
