In the end you have no identity. You lose your "self". To become a compassionate & more of a sentient human being perhaps ? It is often necessary , when one is striving for greater knowledge , wisdom and skill in the arts and learning , to first empty one's self of all presuppositions, prejudices , assumptions ...to first be able to learn anything new and fully with mastery .That is the opposite of Christianity which teaches that once one loses his self to Christ will he actually find himself. I realize you believe Christianity to be a knock off of eastern religions, but their core beliefs are exact opposites. Honestly JK , why would I think that they are exact opposites , when you yourself keep bringing up the core similarities? First , the example of agape & compassion , and now the two similarly shared ideas of one losing oneself to gain oneself . ;-)Christianity stands alone in its teachings. comparativereligion.com in almost every comparison made there , those that are deemed "Christian" , in almost every case I do actually disagree with , though many apologies could be made for . * especially agree with the eastern view in #11, and think the idea of "Satan" is absolutely pure fantasyand old testament superstition. But would disagree that Jesus death on the cross as being irrelevent , for I think it has great relevence . The physical resurrection of Jesus is irrelevent and absurd, contrived and unreal . But many Buddhists made the same mistake with regards Buddha and his being "The Diety" as well. ** I am not trying to be harsh with that last statement , but it must be said openly , thanks for sharing that site . regards Mars
