I am trying to get to the bottom of the issue and still am puzzeled what the hell you are talking about when you say "the stock market disagrees with you?" Do you mean the 1 month performance Year to date, three months, 1 year, 3 years or what?

Not hedgers. Overhedgers. Hedging a year in advance, like farmers do, is normal and prudent. Hedging 15 years in advance is not.

If ABX hedges are so safe, why did management say they were monitoring the situation? Do safe situations need monitoring? Why didn't they just tell the analysts that they were not concerned in the least?

I keep reading on this thread that ABX hedges are so wonderful that ABX benefits when gold goes up, down or sideways. A real no-lose situation. Only there is no such thing. ABX defenders need to come out with some kind of downside to ABX. Even Iomega nuts used to do that much.
