I would want to see the world champ motorcycle against either a Grand Prix or Indy champ

this was done a few years ago, back when F1 still had those amazing turbos, with a (then) current 500 class bike and a Ferrari F1 car.

i believe the car won.

mike,
at laguna seca, a gp car is about 15-20 seconds faster than the lap record for World Superbikes, no comparison (that's a pretty short track, 1:07 cars vs. 1:25 for the bikes, scary difference), those cars actually have a higher hp/weight ratio not to mention 4 tires on the ground, and can pull a few g's with the several thousand pounds of downforce they have...anyway nothing can touch the f1 cars, or their racing budgets. tough to compare the bikes vs. cars, they don't even lean in the same direction while turning -g-

however, they just did a test with kevin schwantz (former motorcycle world champion who has also raced a few winston cup races) riding/driving both the '02 vette z6 vs. the '02 gsxr-1000 at willow springs and the bike beat the car, was actually faster at almost every point on the track whereas the last such test using a top bike and car several years ago had the bike slower at turn apexes but catching up due to superior acceleration and thus able to turn faster laps anyway. I would say on the street (with turns) the average driver in a z06 would be faster than the average rider on the suzuki because that bike does 9.87@144.87 mph in the quarter stock and not too many people can ride that anywhere near its limits. I'm pretty sure the Z06 vette has beaten vipers, nsx's and ferrari 360 lap times around most tracks btw. To be fair, schwantz is a much better bike rider than driver relative to the average guy on the street, and I think the bike had slicks while the vette had street tires but you get the idea...the bikes are fast as shit, and the average idiot will kill himself on one much easier than the vette, and can at least smoke just about any streetcar in a straight line drage race, while the gp cars i'm not sure they're even cars.

and harley's suck -ng-
