There will be integration with an Intel based company in the near future IMO. I believe Sun Microsystems will enter into a merger or be acquired soon.

hi rich,

does intel manufacture operating systems, storage systems, office suites, portals, integration software so they all can communicate with each other?

i think the intel chip, if successfull, will commoditize the companies that choose to use that design. by the way, does the intel 64 bit architecture perform as well as the sunw/txi design? in any case, if intel makes their customers into commodity companies in regard to servers, i still do not see any company that has the complete hardware infrastructure package with both hardware and software to compete with sunw.

a server is not like a pc because it has to communicate with other servers. the pc is a stand-a-lone item. much different and integration is key.

sometimes i begin to wonder when craig barret makes these comments. i listen to him because he has built a company that is about 30 billion dollars larger than mine. but i think he is living in the past.

rocky.
