Yup, Chomsky is an American, thus he talks about the policies of the government that he participates in. Notice that, even though he is Jewish and once lived in Israel, his focus on Israel tends to be on how it relates to America.

Reactionary meaning... what? If by military-run he means the traditional role of the Turkish military as guarantor of the secular, democratic Turkish state, I say "hurrah!" If it wasn't for the Turkish military occassionally taking the reins of governance, Turkey very well may have become another Iran or Sudan long ago, right in the lap of Europe.
