First, why in the world are you researching back issues of Feelies? <g>.....Anyway, everyone knows what green looks like, so as long as we all understand the referent, what is referred to is known. Few people know what it is like to spend hours reading Kant. If I describe it wholly in terms of their experience, it will be false, in just the way that everyone says that exotic meats taste like chicken, lacking any way of conveying the difference. If I describe it wholly in terms of my experience, it will be opaque to most readers. One has to find something that can provide as close an analogy as possible among common experiences, understanding the it is merely an approximation, and that is very tricky.......
