Well russ you are wrong. People do not want the mine. It is their right to protect their surface rights. The mine will run out of reserves one day but the limes and mango won't. Why risk it.

"the Peruvian government also stands to earn as their share, hundreds of millions", the politicans want this because they need to get elected every 5 years. Don't be naive in thinking that it's in Peru's best interest.
