I understand, but

a) Far from being "unconstrained by government restrictions," restrictions on travel plays a key role in the article you posted, and the fact that the local governing authorities are in cahoots with business seals the raw deal. Government is indeed wallowing at the core of the described problems. With practice, good Libertarians don't overlook such realities when reading such articles as that one.
b) That said, you are missing the forest for a few trees again. We've got one example to thoroughly study, and after reading the article, I don't know if she was murdered for "complaining a lot," had wasted lungs from inhaling fibers while running all day, or something else all together. Apparantly, such doesn't happen to millions working such places. I laughed at much of what was intended to pull my heartstrings, because American teenagers often "suffer" worse. How would you like to spend 10 hour days walking through hot rows of christmas trees swinging a machette under the hot summer sun for minimum wage? "GET to Work, young American teenager, it's good for you" shouts middle class American parents. Or how would you like to be in an American union which allowed me to work 20-60+ overtime hours per week vs China's 36max overtime hours per month? Oh woe is me, LOL! And yes, I worked overtime hours I was unpaid for, LOL...and the union was NO help(no one feels sorry for me!), and yes, I had to work when sick or be docked by temporary job loss(hey, union rules specifically allow it, no chit man!). Think. When there were no factories such as described(factories paying far more than whole families got by with beforehand), you can bet people just suffered along for ages. Millions of Chinese no doubt consider themselves and their families back home, to be far better off thanks to these factories. It's not sad, as the article tries to elicit in the end, that they want to go back to the factories to work. What would be sad would be if the factories didn't exist at all- that would mean no choice but a return to long understood REAL suffering indeed- and THERE is the forest.

And yes, I would have conditions become better there, and here. Government will fail to make it happen, 100-1. But what am I complaining about? Hell, the poor in America(the country perhaps least restrained by government restrictions) typically have more wealth in goods and services affordable to them, than the richest Kings of the not so long ago past.

Freedom Works(and the Chinese enjoy precious little, thank-you),

Dan B
