There has been a significant change in the way QCOM is now viewed as an investment. Several major investment firms retain their buy recommendations, first of all, and that's somewhat different from a few months ago. But the biggest change is from Nokia itself--pushing for lower royalties in the realization that the WCDMA form of 3G is going to be expensive unless QCOM lowers its royalties. Well, that's just fine, because it demonstrates how competitive CDMA2000 is, and how difficult it will be for any other carriers to compete with CDMA2000 (in places where there is competition, of course).

The four most interesting areas for expansion are the U.S., particularly regarding the buildout of 3G by Verizon and Sprint PCS; China, India, and Russia (the 450 mhz CDMA systems). I especially like the situation in India, where for the first time a limited mobility wireless phone will be an affordable and reliable substitute for the current situation--no phone service, period.

RE: Fox's Bulls and Bears
Has anyone else got the idea that Fox's Bulls and Bears is nothing but "entertainment"? I know all the business shows try to get us interested (that is their job), but this one seems to take the cake. I find the whole show stupid. Nothing but 30 year-old goobers "arguing" about what a stock will do. I saw one guy recommend WCOM about 3 weeks ago!

It reminds me of what Fox has done with the NFL with Howie, Terry, James Brown, and whoever else (all of them are goobers too). They took a good thing and ruined it by making it a scripted play and not an honest analysis of the subject.

Reukeiser (spelling?) is boring, but has the best content.
