Gold is volatile, not for all people.

FSAGX plus some gold stock shares for a boost -
I have been in and out of FSAGX in the past year and have supplemented my position with a gold stock if I am more bullish than usual. I have GG right now(if you want some real juice try HGMCY, for example). So far so good, however, I am prepared to exit the stock at any time and have done so in the past while maintaining my position in FSAGX because, as you mentioned, its moves are more conservative.
