8:30AM Retail Sales rose 1.2% total; 1.0% ex-autos; stronger than expected : The total increase of 1.2% and ex-auto gain of 1.0% were both significantly stronger than expected and confirm that the consumer continues to lead this recovery. Market jumps on this report; S&P futures now 12 pts above fair value; Nasdaq 100 futures 28 pts above fair value.

8:25AM Kulicke & Soffa upgraded by SoundView (KLIC) 18.30: Hearing from sources that SoundView upgrades KLIC to BUY from Hold with a $25 target; cites improving unit volumes, average selling prices, and profitability; upgrade comes ahead of mid-quarter update scheduled for Friday.

7:31AM Flextronics: positive comments by Pru on Casio deal (FLEX) 14.09: Prudential views yesterday's $1.5 bln, 3-year outsourcing deal between FLEX and Casio as strategically important, as it gives FLEX a relationship with a key Japanese OEM and an in-country facility to position itself for the large outsourcing opportunity in Japan; the deal, where FLEX will produce a wide range of consumer electronics for Casio, requires minimal capital investment and over 50% of revs are expected to be generated from existing FLEX facilities in Southern China.

7:18AM Intel upgraded at Robbie (INTC) 28.52: Robertson Stephens upgrades to BUY from Mkt Perform based on expectations of seasonally-improved PC demand in the back half of the year and better avg selling prices; recent checks indicate that INTC appears to be foregoing a desktop Pentium 4 price cut in Q3 (first since 1995-1996 cycle), and the co also appears to be nailing the 0.13 micron process transition that is accelerating speed introductions while reducing costs. Raises FY03 rev/EPS ests to $32.1 bln/$1.05 from $31.7 bln/$1.00. Price target is $34.

7:05AM Asian Markets : Nikkei +0.17%, Hang Seng -0.37% -- Asian stocks mixed. Chip-related shares outperformed amid expectations that Applied Materials will post better than expected earnings later today. Samsung Electronics led Korea's Kospi 1.9% higher. Banks capped some of the upside in Japan.

Hi RtS,

Took another 12% of my MKSI off the table in my latest AIM trade, at 38.26. Last trade was SALE one month ago at 34.11.
Next SALE is 43.11, next BUY 28.4.

MKSI, which I 'inherited' when it bought at ASTX has been more than a two-bagger so far.

Best rgds,
Jonathan
