I did not alter the time period of your chart -- if you meant another time period you should have limited it to that --

again, the only thing meaningful to me is how they have fared since the index bottomed

The day ABX announced their 3.5moz find in Peru, all the other gold stocks were flat and Barrick went up about $US0.70. With 536 million shares out, that's $US375M or about $100/ounce for the 3.5 they found. Pretty respectable valuation for the additional ounces.
