WBMW, re;"Microsoft is less likely to "delay" an update to a product that already has an installed base."

Go tell that to the MAC faithful in Cupertino...

Hi wannabmw, RE: "Everything leading up to the first OS release is riding on AMD's demand"

So if demand is really low, maybe it gets killed? But how long will the recession last - it probably doesn't hurt to keep the high-end and low-end covered just in case ISVs/OEM/IHV innovation (that AG is trying hard to kill it seems with his recent proposals) slows in this recession? Does it even make sense for Intel to keep bases covered on the low-end? Who's really driving whom here? What kind of products do people trend to during recessions? An appetite for the low-end? That's one reason why Sun is getting hammered in the market place (no pun intended), but to Intel's gain. I pose these questions, not with answers, but to wonder if there are other potential possibilities.

RE: "less likely to "delay" an update to a product that already has an installed base."

PMs from any co determine their schedules based upon market needs, installed base, competitiveness, etc.
