As far as I am concerned, no. The "lemmings meme" relies on irrational actions that never existed. Find a real-life example (maybe bubbles) and use that.

Otherwise, it's just a fantasy.

Actually when people exhibit herd behavior they are probably dumber than animals. Who ever heard of an animal lynch mob or an animal stock bubble?
