I thought WCOM was replaced in the NDX, but I don't know about the SPX. The high volume in the SPX leads me to believe they're still in there.

Jeff, ajtj, a few points on how WCOM skewed today's numbers:
(1) WCOM volume was 0.67 bln shares (all-time record?)

(2) Nasdaq vol with WCOM: 2.60 bln shares
adj Nasdaq vol w/o WCOM: 1.93 bln shares (about average)

(3) S&P500 vol with WCOM: 2.58 bln shares
adj S&P500 vol w/o WCOM: 1.91 bln shares (about average)

(4) TRINQ close with WCOM=1.14=(2,433:1,117):(1,697:892)
adj TRINQ close w/o WCOM=0.28=(2,433:1,116):(1,697:221)
(very low TRINQ)

Jeff, ajtj: I calculated TRINQ without WCOM as 0.28 at the close today (1.14 with WCOM). However, TRINQ low was 0.58 so it's possible the adjusted TRINQ low was even lower than that intraday. On the other hand, the adjustment may be going too far as every day there is some high volume stock that is declining on COMPQ.
