Its all about the benjamens. Over ten years ago, the Air Force was talking about the B-1 bomber as an interim solution to phase out the B52 before production of a new bomber (B2). A couple of weeks ago, I read on USA Today that it is now believed that the B52 will be able to be used until the 2040s. Can you believe that? Therefore, if you are a goverment contractor to ensure that your project never gets killed, you must have your fingers in many pies, or congressional districts.
