The US military effort in Afghanistan appeared quite effective, and there was a lot of boasting going on about the value of the new remote control weapons, like Predator.

To a keen observer, this might seem to contradict some of the 2000 campaign rhetoric.

One might also note that the effectiveness of the military in Afghanistan may have boosted the President's poll numbers somewhat.
