8:15AM: April Housing Starts will be released at 8:30 ET; the market expects a slight decline to a 1.625 mln unit rate, with Building Permits also seen at 1.625 mln... These figures are weak only in comparison to February's mild weather-induced 1.785 mln rate; in the big picture, starts are still strong... Jobless Claims are expected to fall 405K in the 5/11 week as we continue to see the unwinding of the extended benefits filing effect.... Presently, the S&P futures, at +3.00, are 6 points above fair value while the Nasdaq 100 futures, at +4.50, are 11.50 points above fair value.
