There is some evidence that they are calving off because they have grown too large to be supported.

The problem, my dear (he, says in a VERY superior voice), that the earth (and the sun) go through natural heating and cooling periods. As Ish mentioned, we are coming out of an ice age. That may turn around soon. Then you're going to WISH you had global warming. That "coming out of the ice age" bit coincided with the rise of human civilization and may have had a great deal to do with it. It has long been a puzzle as to why humans and close relatives have been around for so long and yet it has only been in the last 10,000 years that civilization arose. This may very well be the reason.

So go kiss your car exhaust pipe.
