Just because a person roots for one side or another, we shouldn't throw their opinions out the window. Rooting for one side or the other is fine as long as it isn't excessive. I would not trust the judgment of anyone who can't see both sides of most things and who doesn't occasionally make the principled choice of supporting something that does not benefit one's own team. That doesn't mean that partisans are never right or insightful, only that they are biased and their judgments have to be assessed in that light.
