It is unfortunate that this sort of information has been kept from the public. When an FBI agent warns of Bin Laden using flight schools for terrorism, and no one in the US Government takes note, that is a clear indication that the society is unprepared.

Had the public been aware of the level of hatred emanating from some parts of the world, security at airports would have been tightened up, and the first sign of trouble on the planes would have been met by resistance from the passengers. It is likely that the World Trade Center would still be standing if the public was better informed.

The ongoing argument that "Al Queda might be sending a signal" is one of the lamest excuses for censorship I've ever heard. The Internet makes communication instant and trivial, and it is absurd to think that the terrorists need TV to communicate.
