Hi SS. When my wife's family emigrated to America, they did not speak English much (the kids not at all and the parents only as a second language and in a limited way). The first rule of the household that her parents imposed was that they would speak English, not their native language, at home. Her Dad reasoned that this would make them more successful in school and work here, and he was right. He is also the only person I know who had a picture of a US flag on his car before September 11.
