yep, I do recall good ol' USSR with a 99.9% showing up and voting for their favorite leader. The support of the people was overwhelming.
Of course, if one would not vote for the favorite leader one would loose his job or get expelled from university or even get a nuce view from behind bars. :-/
And we are talking about mild USSR while Arafat would probably put Stalin to shame.
