Network Appliance Solution Enables Navision to Build Enhanced Data Storage Infrastructure
Navision Makes Business-Critical Data Continuously Available; Deploys NetApp® Storage to Future-Proof Its Storage Network

(Anybody have a take on how important this win is, given the size of Navision and its network of partners?)

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 2002-- Network Appliance(TM), Inc. (Nasdaq:NTAP - News), a leading provider of enterprise network storage solutions, announced that it has signed a major agreement with Navision a/s (listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange CSE:NAVI) of Copenhagen, Denmark to deliver and help implement a central data storage platform at the Navision corporate headquarters. Navision is the leading global provider of integrated software solutions for small and medium-sized businesses, delivering financial management, customer relationship management, supply chain management, e-commerce, and knowledge management solutions for 133,000 customers worldwide in manufacturing, media/entertainment, wholesale, retail, and services.

Deploying Network Appliance storage solutions represents the first step in Navision's enterprise-wide effort to ensure access to and availability of reliable business-critical data across its global infrastructure of more than 1,200 staff and 2,350 partners and resellers in more than 30 countries and territories. The Network Appliance products will integrate into Navision's existing corporate IT infrastructure and will eventually give all employees at the corporate headquarters fast and easy access to business information critical to competitive success and their customers' well-being.

Further, Navision is contemplating a future data management solution in which data will be actively distributed and corporate databases will be automatically updated and synchronized across the many physical locations of the enterprise. This enhancement would be made possible with NetApp global storage infrastructure solutions designed to speed access to corporate data from anywhere in the world.

"Navision is already a leading vendor of integrated enterprise systems. One of our core values is to create and offer simplicity and this was in fact a critical deciding factor behind the choice of Network Appliance," said Henrik Arndt, IT director of Navision a/s. "In our view, the NetApp solution offers simplicity and efficiency in everyday use. We aim to ensure optimal data management and maximum availability to the enterprise."

As Arndt continued, "Network Appliance's solution features very low maintenance demands which translate directly into low operating costs. On aggregate, we consider Network Appliance the best choice we could make both in terms of total cost of ownership and in terms of design and technical functionality."

In the first phase of implementation, Navision will install four Network Appliance F880 filers offering a total data storage capacity of more than 10TB. The NetApp filers will connect directly to Navision's global TCP/IP-based network infrastructure in a networked storage configuration. Simultaneously, Navision is creating a dedicated storage network based on Gigabit Ethernet that also integrates directly to the enterprise data network. Ultimately, this will allow the core data storage system to be expanded with local NetApp filers in remote offices around the world, working seamlessly with the central storage platform.

In addition to the hardware systems, Navision is building on a number of software solutions and tools from Network Appliance, which will integrate to and interact with MS Exchange, MS SQL-server, and HP OpenView software.

"Navision is one of the leading IT companies in Scandinavia and it is with great pride that we welcome Navision as a Network Appliance customer," said Ray Villeneuve, vice president of marketing at Network Appliance. "With the NetApp solution in place, Navision will have a future-proof cost-effective infrastructure for all its data storage and business information purposes, contributing significantly to its profitability."
