Haim, I am no expert in European politics but I view
the swing in french opinion as highlighted by the
recent vote in a similar vein to that as concluded in Holland. By no means am I
defending le Pen , but I view his recent success
as a response to the overwhelming presence of north african
,primarily muslim, immigration in france. le Pen may be anti-semitic, but I dont think that was a factor in his
success. ( I also firmly beleive it is this muslim segment
of the population who are perpetrating the acts of violence
against jews in europe)

I am perhaps naive to anti-semitic sentiment in Europe
and in particular france, but I can only express my
own experiences. Having married into a french family
for 27 yrs and having been affiliated with french
business, I can not point to any memories of overt
and blatant anti-semitism. No doubt, there exist the
subtle and injurious forms of anti-semitism but no more,
no less than experienced as a young protestant growing
up in the deep south. (but even this is strained as it was
one of my buddies who was in fact, jewish)
