Had they asked the trial participants to taste the liquid oral heparin before agreeing to drink it for 30 days, the noncompliance issue would probably not exist, and the trial would have been successful. While the market for liquid medicine of disgusting taste is certainly smaller than for the solid formulation, but many people myself included would drink whatsoever rather than be daily pricked by the needles.
