Oblomov,

Re: My real question is, if you don't like capitalism, then what are you doing at an investment discussion website?

Same as you, seeking opportunities. But where we differ is in our respect for the leaders of the swindle called the financial market. Here's the views of one of the world's most successful capitialists, Warren Buffett:

"Surveying the view from his No. 2 perch on the Forbes 400, Warren Buffett, the Grand Pooh-bah of American Capitalism, opened fire with both barrels this month when he told an audience of over 10,000 Berkshire Hathaway shareholders that Wall Street loves a crook, investment bankers don't care about investors, stock-option-engorged CEOs are shameless, and American business is teeming with fraud."

Warren is no communist, nor am I, and I resent your preposterous presentation of me as such. What I see is a sick system that needs to heal itself. One doesn't need to be a communist to see that when the game is rigged, as it presently is in the financial markets, that as an independent investor, I am at a distinct risk of being cheated, robbed and have no recourse due to the "rules of the road". I'm on investor threads because I seek capitalist profits. I am concerned that with the game structured as it is, that I and millions of other honest citizens are at a distinct disadvantage to those who would prefer to cheat. This is a system that cannot survive, long term. Does that satisfy your curiousity as to why I'm here?

It's not capitalism, per se, that I rail against. It's the criminality and fraudulent behavior of many of the most "successful" of capitalists that truly offends me. Much as they offended the sensibilities of Theodore Roosevelt a century ago.

Plus ca change, la plus l'meme chose.

-R.

Doesn't participation in capitalism make you complicit in the destruction of infrastructure and threat to community that you believe to be caused by capitalism?
Now Now you don't want to be preaching to the choir do you. ? Pretty boring that.
