WHT: Rest assured the spin will be negative for Qualcomm and the like. The telecommunications press seems to be firmly planted in Europe. The WC event will be splashy, but the upside is slim. The Euros will be spring loaded to jump onto any shortcomings in the 'presentation' of CDMA's capabilities. If the networks work as promised, the Teleco press will hide the achievement under the UTMS banner. Which will also be portrayed as bad for Qualcomm. The Euro population will run out to the store thinking GRPS has the same feature set as CDMA. They buy the phones and the 'disappointment' comes rolling in from the press that 3G is not all it is made up to be.

Somehow the press and the govts will get together and figure out a way to blame all this on someone else and Qualcomm is always a convenient whipping boy.
